Our Services
Conversation enables children to interact, connect, and grow with their peers. Young children may struggle with making sounds correctly, causing them to be hard to understand.
The cause of this struggle could be a phonological disorder, involving the linguistic processing of sounds and the acquisition of sound patterns, or an articulation disorder, involving accuracy of oral placement and sound production.
If your child’s speech is difficult to understand, our therapists can determine if there is a delay, and what is causing the delay. We help children learn to process sounds and produce them accurately. If oral myofunctional work is necessary along with production training, we are trained to provide that also.
Speech fluency describes the smoothness, continuity, and effort involved in speech production. Stuttering, one of the most common speech impairments, is simply an interruption in connected speech.
The cause of stuttering can be related to situational events, language acquisition and growth, and/or family history. If your child is experiencing dysfluency in their speech, our therapists are here to identify types of dysfluencies and provide a professional opinion on the need for speech fluency services.
Our therapists have completed focused training in:
- NOro-myofunctional disorders
- NKaufman Speech to Language Protocol (K-SLP)
- NTalk Tools Oral Placement Therapy (OPT)
- NBeckman oral motor assessment and intervention techniques
- NDirect Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC)
More about Speech Sound Disorders
Children naturally learn some sounds earlier than others as they develop. Information regarding speech milestones can be found here.
